#CancelMyDebt? Uh, no. Nobody forced you to take out student loans. Nobody forced you to major in something that won't land you a good job. Nobody else is responsible for your debt. It's your debt, it's your responsibility.

What about lowering tuition costs, so the debt isn't as bad? Would that work?

The counterpoint to that is that predatory lending practices shouldn't be a thing. You shouldn't have your loan balance double or triple due to hidden fees, rocketing interest rates, lender bullying, unreasonable repayment options, and so forth.

Should we be making 18 year olds make the biggest financial decision of their lives and basically have to choose to take out a mortgage or go another route? Choosing to go to college shouldn’t determine your financial well being

College or University? Community and state colleges in-state can be pretty cheap. But people keep choosing more expensive colleges and universities with the expectation that they are going to learn more than a "local" school.

No one forced the bank to give out billions in Homeloans. Yet their debt fit cancelled with tarp.

Yes but student loan providers and other entities are exploiting a generation of naive 18-year-olds and that needs to be addressed. Kids are told “you need to go to college to have a good life” and influenced into taking out debt. For-profit colleges are at fault as well.

And the fact is, since unions were destroyed, that "need to go to college" thing is pretty true. They can't all be plumbers and electricians, and there aren't that many other well decent paying jobs that don't require college.
