It’s the teachers who want to participate in this that worry me, Martha. Police hit moving targets 30% of the time. Not to mention guns stored negligently, or used as discipline (Google it; both have happened). If a child’s life is lost for any of these reasons, would you object?

Something I’d encourage all my male colleagues to read. We’ve created a training environment in which this story is incredibly common. Let’s be better. Thanks for sharing

Female politician: <exists, is serious> "Why is she so unlikeable?" Other female politician: <exists, is fun and outgoing> "How are we supposed to take her seriously?" You guys aren't slick.

I didn’t think I had to say this but since it ended up in my mentions... “what about the guys who aren’t harassing women? Like if there’s only one toxic dude on mic there’s like 4 dudes who aren’t saying anything.” I don’t give cookies for breathing.

I’ll say it again...there are way too many people making way too much money in healthcare, that have nothing to do with actually providing healthcare.

He is Daniel Taylor & he’s been arrested. This video summarizes how men murder 1600 women/year in America: •Violent man attacks woman •Men watch & do nothing to stop him •After the attack—they ignore her & apologize to *him* for upsetting him •They work to make *him* happy😑

A few notes: 1. No, I didn’t purposefully choose all men for the receipts. I didn’t realize it until I tweeted the last one. 2. I’m not saying you have to “like” Warren or HRC. But question why “likability” keeps popping up as an issue when women run. Examine your own motives.

Donald Trump may be the single most “unlikable” person I’ve ever seen on TV or in real life, the kind of person I would cross the street to avoid small talk with, and the fact that I have never heard that word applied to him seals the deal that this is a women-only term.

I just brought some firearms back from California with me and virtually every person I encountered along the way was like, “relax, man” when it came to my efforts to safely secure them. As a country, we’re incredibly blasé about this thing that kills so many Americans.

The more I look at this tweet & the replies, the angrier I get. . . . . . . People really need to take a good long look at how they criticize and/or interact w/ women.

One thing I've learned about meds is they are SO hard on themselves. An awful score for a med student is a score to celebrate for an engineering student lol. Very different atmospheres. Not that engineering doesn't have it's problems, of course.

No, medical mistakes are NOT our "third leading cause of death." The studies that are used to argue that are fatally flawed, conflatong complications and potentially preventable deaths with "medical error" and making ridiculously unjustified extrapolations from small numbers.

There’s a pearl-clutching to the way these outlets are discussing these women, one that seems to project more onto fairly inconsequential and ephemeral responses.

This is so sad and is the kind of judgmental idea we can’t have in this discussion- all in the same vein of “I worked harder” or “Students these days aren’t committed.” Not true. Today’s students are amazing and committed just like every generation before.

I just read the commentary and was deeply disappointed to indeed see this passage in the article. It is gratuitous and highly disrespectful of medical students; the overwhelming majority work incredibly hard to become an MD. An unfortunate choice of words.

As some know, I call this syndrome among older physicians (of which I am now one) Nostalgialitis Imperfecta Profunda. Things were not so great when we trained. Today’s students face many challenges. Strongly recommend this article by Dhaliwal from 2015:

Back in my day, we walked 23 miles to class, worked 97 hours per week on rotations. It was great! I mean, 15% of us have depression, 60% are divorced, and the rest don't know our own kids' names, but it was great I tell you!
