  5. We should still lock down and provide monthly aid to every single American until everyone is vaccinated. At worst, it’s overly cautions and we help people economically.

  6. Can’t blame them for trying this, honestly. Democrats have had remarkable success cynically deploying identity against the progressive left for years. Why stop now?

  7. I really hope these—let’s call them pandemic optimists—are right and we’re just a few months away from being through this pandemic thanks to vaccines. But I am extremely skeptical what with all the new variants and warnings from experts that vaccines aren’t enough.

Instead of overruling their parliamentarian with 40 yes votes, Dems put the $15 min wage on a path where it would need 60 votes. Even if all 50 Dems voted yes, it would have failed, but these eight Democrats wanted to vote NO on a $15 min wage.

  10. If House progressives hold up the relief bill in the name of making Biden fulfill his promises on $2k checks and $15 minimum wage, they won’t be the ones who take heat for the delay. It’ll be Biden who gets the blame—and rightly so. Block the vote.

  11. Biden promised $2,000 checks. He promised $15 minimum wage. All he needs to do is fulfill his promises. Buck stops with him.

  13. At this point, House progressives need to draw a line. No vote unless $15 minimum wage is included; unless UI is $600; unless checks are $2,000 and their phaseout remains at least as generous as it was under Trump. If that can’t pass, let Biden fight it out with Manchin et al.

The thing to understand: these Dem senators voting no on Sanders’ procedural motion were voting to not even allow a vote on the actual minimum wage amendment. They voted to help the GOP make sure the Senate was not even allowed to consider it. Truly heinous.
