Without giving away too much, Gamer Girl is an empowering story of a female streamer who, with the help of her moderator friend, battles the trolls and — overcomes— the toxic characters in her stream...

The trailer misses the mark by a lightyear if it's meant to advertise a game to raise awareness... I just feel like you're fetishizing being in control of a female streamer. Nothing in the trailer shows how it raises awareness at all. It's just skimpy outfits and an abusive BF.

Maybe the gameplay is indeed different but anything that you showed off in the trailer tells me otherwise. I actually think this may be doing more harm than good even if your point is to raise awareness. Have you included a psychologist when drafting this entire idea?

That sound so exaggerated, I played need for speed and I didn't want to race anytime in my life. Also, it gives visibility to a real problem, that it's harassment from the anonymous, especially on girls. Still sounds like a bizarre idea to me, but I wouldn't attack it.

WHAT. THE. FUCK. As a female streamer/gamer this is an absolute NO. I've been assaulted and raped. I will NEVER buy or watch this game. I sincerely hope it tanks. This is NOT the way to bring awareness to toxic/abusive related things that go on in females daily lives.
-
I will also be blocking your company as I WILL NOT support anyone who thinks monetizing this kind of experience that real people actually suffer through as a way of "being light" to this type of life is ok. You are aiding the problem, not helping get rid of it.

The fear that "it will lead to real-world violence" is not the issue. It's how much they have missed their mark if their goal was to bring light to a problem through the use of art. It's a poor attempt at that and if anything it tells more of the people that make and play it.
