I experienced this one semester i taught at a PWI. My students were so well-versed in RW/Conservative/FoxNews talking points, it made the entire class one big challenge. Worst teaching experience I've ever had.

As a history, geography and civics teacher I don't stay neutral on hate politics or anything that is hateful. I have had angry parents and students who have switched out. When I am on my deathbed I will die peacefully knowing I did the right thing.

Thank you!

I teach social work/social justice. During Obama years I played "both sides" a wee bit. Trump's election changed everything. No more both sides.

It’s a quintessential teaching moment. Chase down every talking point and what the problem is. It may feel dragged off topic for a bit but it will be well worth it in the long run. They can’t repeat them more than twice without you being able to say ‘we covered that’, move on.
