Now that I'm playing around with ChatGPT, the results are WILD. I asked it to produce a storyline between The Undertaker and Bray Wyatt and it came back with it in SECONDS. It actually wasn't bad. The crazy thing is it knew the finishing moves for both wrestlers. Scary.

All these years later, I still think getting birthday and happy work anniversary messages on LinkedIn is incredibly strange 😂

"Fintech, bank partnerships to lead the way in 2023" I saw that headline in 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018...you get the point. What's happened in the industry that we keep talking about this? What is new that's being said about these partnerships?

I don't remember this being a thing before the pandemic. Once all these places were forced to go completely digital, that's when I started seeing more of this type of thing.

I recently went to buy a soda and the screen asked me if I wanted to tip. The weird part was there wasn't an option for 'no' or 0%. It only offered 15%, 20%, or 25% as options.

I was living in Chicago at the time. The weather was just about the same in Chicago that day. I remember my ex-wife being overly concerned for Coughlin's beet-red face during the game 😂

No recollection of this AT ALL though I know I watched this game. Would be nice to start this Saturday's game the same way.

As someone who still considers themselves a journalist/writer at heart, all this ChatGPT chatter is frightening. Like, what are we doing here?
Absolutely loved reading this story!

Bigger scam: gift card activation fees or StubHub fees? I think it’s a toss up.

I'll be curious to see how friendly fraud shakes out in all of this because you know it's going to be a factor.

I think what will end up happening initially is that heavy Wal-Mart shoppers will use this as a supplemental account of sort. But is that enough for sustained success? I think of Varo's recent financials as a cautionary tale of sorts.

Wal-Mart has been trying to get into banking for as long as I've been involved in this industry. I do agree with the premise that it has the scale, brand recognition, etc., to find initial "success", but it's really going to come down to how different it is from others.

Simply put, this SUCKS. There are some great writers over at Protocol, and it is one of the few pubs I checked in with every day. Hoping everyone lands on their feet ASAP.
The crypto apologists are all over Twitter today trying to save face over this FTX disaster. It's pretty comical.

Not sure if this is the beginnings of Twitter trying to become a "super app", or something else. Still, I can't imagine any U.S. company coming close to what WeChat and Alipay have been doing for YEARS in China.

Reading this reminds me of all the chatter at CES and Money 20/20 in 2018 about IoT and payments everywhere. Whatever happened to all that IoT chatter?
I can't believe this is a thing, but I'm glad wrote about it. Goes back to my longstanding joke that there's a neobank for every "genre" you can think of these days.

Finally got a chance to sit down and read this great story from . One thing I found interesting btw this story and an interview I staffed today about the CFPB open banking rule is figuring out who is liable in the case of a data breach: the bank, fintech, or both?

Late advice, but if you're at #Money2020USA for meetings, it's ALWAYS best to scout out in advance the locations of where you're supposed to be for said meetings. That was the first thing I did on that Sunday every year I went to the show. You'll save yourself multiple headaches.

My apologies to my reporter mates for becoming THAT PR person reaching out to you with a last-ditch effort for Money 20/20 meetings next week 😬😆 Just remember we both have a job to do, and that I've been on both sides 🙃

"But so far, very few of these games have attracted more than a few thousand players, and the mainstream adoption and popularity of these technologies remains very much in question." That's because the hardcore gamer audience is not asking for this stuff, so maybe stop?

I wrote a TON about Paym back in the Mobile Payments Today days. It was ahead of its time in some ways back in 2014, but the rise of NFC-based mobile payments and other P2P services essentially made it obsolete.
