We’re fast approaching parli recess & will be off for Christmas to recharge the batteries for the many challenges ahead in 2022. We'd like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a good break, but not before reflecting on a few standout moments in '21, and what a year it’s been!pic.twitter.com/pTzl4WrPej

“It is not too late for the government to fix this and support sustainable farming at home and abroad. We need core standards for trade that can be set in UK law to apply to all food sold and would ensure minimum environmental standards are met no matter what deals are signed.3/4

“Agreeing zero tariff, zero quota access with Australia, a climate and nature laggard, is no way to deliver on the commitments the UK government made at COP26 to end deforestation in our supply chains and make the UK stronger, greener and more resilient. 2/4

Thanks to all those campaigners, NGOs, ambassadors, parliamentarians, ministers and civil servants who worked with us this year to give our planet a fighting chance – we’ll need all your support and more as we continue to tackle the climate & nature emergency - see you in 2022!

Throughout
#COP26 we heard from incredible people demanding real action to tackle the#ClimateCrisis. Leaders must listen to the voices of young people & indigenous communities, and the outpouring of public demand for action.Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -
It's encouraging to see commitments on curbing fossil fuel subsidies - the first time this has been mentioned in a COP decision. However, it's deeply disappointing to see a watering-down of the language on coal from phase-out to phase-down.

For the first time, the role and importance of nature in limiting warming to 1.5°C has been recognised. We know that nature is a climate hero – it’s time to put
#nature at the heart of climate action plans.

The Glasgow Climate Pact calls on countries to come back in the next year with stronger pledges and plans for action. Leaders must now follow through and deliver the action needed to make this a reality.

1.5°C is still in reach – just – and only with delivery of rapid, deep & ongoing emissions cuts, alongside support for countries facing climate impacts.

While there were genuine signs of progress at
#COP26, with breakthroughs on some key climate promises, the overall outcome was disappointing - but there is still hope:Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -
At the end of Oct, we headed to
#COP26. We're hugely proud of WWF’s UK & international delegations working all hours of the day and night to remind world leaders of the climate promises they’ve made, urging them to step up, put us on track for 1.5°C & make nature a climate hero.pic.twitter.com/oKeQGwqsdO

The State of the Planet Address 2021 with the incomparable @ChristianaFigueres as keynote speaker, delivered a stark reminder ahead of
#COP26 why we need to see UK Government, and all world leaders, stepping up to deliver on their climate promises.#WeWontForgetpic.twitter.com/m6GpRHxzNd

After an epic 1056 days since draft publication, the
#EnvironmentBill became law at last. Having worked on it from the start with our friends in@GreenerUK_, we helped it grow from simply dealing w. governance to potentially restoring nature by 2030 - now the hard work starts!Show this threadThanks.
