There is no faster or surer way to destroy the values inherent in the American flag than to demand and require that people show respect for it.

My best hope is that the NFL owners are doing this because they believe they benefit from the attention brought by the controversy, but even from a business point of view that's a dangerous game to play with the NFL brand.

Now suddenly the NFL players aren't just kneeling for a cause they believe in, but they're also kneeling to defy the oppressive authoritarianism of the Trump administration and the NFL owners.

The authoritarianism of NFL owners who pay the players thousands of dollars 💵 to play a kid’s game? There is no free speech in the workplace unless you’re self-employed. The owners are trying to reach a compromise in order to stop 🛑 declining ratings,a consequence of protests!

Right. Like this is about employer-employee relations. And "kids game"? Really. These guys get paid millions. Each player is a business. Owners will lose a lot more season ticket holders by acting like authoritarian asshats than if they just ignored it.

Peaceful protest is at the heart of every civic movement in this country. @realDonaldTrump has no idea what he’s talking about. Kneeling is actually the most respectful form of protest. He can’t stand it because they are BLACK AND HE IS RACIST AND HIS WHITE BASE IS RACIST.

For many of us who have witnessed dictatorship and oppressive regimes and terrorist organization, I distinctly recall the early formation of ISIS telling us if you don’t like our rules, get out if the country. It’s deep terrorizing hatred and that what this @POTUS is exhibiting.

@NFL owners should’ve stood with the players but those sissies were worried about how much it will cost them. Trading peaceful protest with $$. And to set the record straight, this has NOTHING to do with military, veterans or flag. It’s about oppressive practices against blacks.

If people cannot peacefully protest for civil rights in the USA, then all we stand for, what so many fought for means nothing, just toss it aside and let a dictator tell you how it all needs to be. You folks lost your soul so much that you don’t know what you stand for anymore.

North Korea has mandatory patriotism. It’s a sign of insecurity and totalitarian rule.

If burning the American flag is protected by free speech, why the outrage about protesting by taking a knee? Oh ya...Donald Trump chipping away at our freedoms and instigating racial tension. If you don’t see it, you don’t deserve democracy.

It’s a continuing travesty that this man + those defending this do not understand the flag is a symbol of the Constitution (NOT the military), that pesky document that guarantees 1st amendment rights for ALL, not just those who agree with us. Founding Fathers would be appalled.
