As a teacher, if I didn’t have my husband as a partner helping to raise our children, my salary wouldn’t be sufficient. I, along with countless others, take graduate classes and work well past our regular “shift” all while not receiving overtime. Dodging bullets is another story

I don't want higher pay. I want my job description to have firmer boundaries and for schools to be staffed at a level that I can actually fulfill my 'essential functions.'

Robert Maranto has no idea what it is to be a teacher.

There are many teachers that have no idea what it is to be a teacher either, and that’s the point.

The point is there are lots of anonymous people thinking they are qualified to judge teachers but none of them will show their credentials to do so, offer their criticism to teachers face to face, nor will they pick up a handgun and take a teaching job.

Price inflation is more money chasing goods & services. Govt money is taken from the Free Mkt & Individual Liberty slowing the economy + at the same time the money inflates prices faster than wage increases & ppl fall further behind so ever more jobless poor homeless hungry eg CA

Yes, teachers should be very knowledgeable in subjectmatter and good at teaching as they were for many decades before teacher colleges took over the training and certification of teachers. Then subject matter became secondary and those best suited to teach were eliminated.

There has to be accountability. Sadly not every teacher is worth more. There are many great teachers but many more are not.

If parents did their jobs, teachers could do theirs. Send your kids to school ready to learn. Instill discipline and manners. Stay on them. It’s not a teacher’s job to parent your kids.
