This is stupid and obtuse. Women spending larger amounts of time outside of the workforce is WHY the women make less on average compared to males. Women are at home while men are furthering their careers...how does this not make sense to you?

Employers pay employees what they feel they're worth based on their relevant experience in their field of employment. While motherhood is indeed important it is not relevant to most fields and is therefore not considered during salary negotiations. This is logic, not sexism.
