Well if you're concerned about the lack of efficiency and loss of energy, I can assure that the human body itself is fantastically inefficient. Furthermore, humans themselves waste a fantastic amount of energy (and time!)

I don't think condoms count as medication, as for hormones, I'm pretty sure an abortion affects a person a lot more than any plan b or birth control or other medications that might be out there
