saw one article mention Townshend, which is semi accurate but also kinda funny since he's played nothing but an Eric Clapton signature Strat for the better part of 2-3 decades now

I think I would’ve said Clapton/Page...maybe Iommi or Angus but maybe WSJ was going for someone more recent

I think Clapton is too closely associated with Fender. The rest though, absolutely.

Agreed. The majority of people prob see “Clapton” in their head from the last 40+ years w/ a Strat Would’ve been a pretty messy headline to explain the “...for ‘Beano’ & Cream-era Clapton” distinction. Lol. But for me at least Cream Clapton = Best Clapton ....so sweetpic.twitter.com/G2o1lNyPDk

I'd put his playing with the Dominos against anything he did from Cream, and IMO, Fillmore East >>>

Probably better playing. Hard to disagree with that. ...I just love Cream and that was one of those sounds that really got me playing, so I guess it holds an extra special place for me. but yeah....this is just ridiculoushttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywdU0C2GH2o …

This is about corporate mismanagement and poor product choices. Plenty of people are learning guitar.
