Starbucks fosters the idea that customers are welcome to hang out in its cafes, but there's no clear policy on how longhttps://on.wsj.com/2Jeyytz

Sure there is. If you’re black, leave now. If you’re white, hang out for as long as you like.

But that may turn out to be a self-defeating policy if you have a cafe in which half of the tables are occupied by non-paying visitors. (You can't call them "customers"....can you?).

Well, it's apparent that as long as you're white, you can hang out there without buying a thing. If you're black, just get out of there-you're loitering.

Sorry, Starbucks is too white and elitist to allow me in. Besides, Dunkin' Donuts sells better coffee cheaper.

Oh so you made it up ? Starbucks is one of the most diverse employers in the WORLD. And agree their coffee sucks, but you can’t be pushing this agenda of hate. It’s irresponsible at the very least. @Starbucks

Tell that to the guys who got the bum's rush in Philadelphia. They would have been customers if they'd not been busted for loitering. I'm not talking about employment. I'm talking customer service. It's not a good look.

No. Im telling it to you bc you said they are racist yet have never been there. Again, stirring up hate like this is massively irresponsible. Have a good day and try to smile.

With black folks the "how long" policy is apparently "two minutes", sooooo maybe they need to explicitly say people are welcome to chill indefinitely without purchase 🙃

Or do the smart thing and say that you must purchase something.

Then they shouldn’t bill themselves as the Third Place. They don’t get to be part of the community if all they give a shit about is whether I purchased a grande mocha half calf whateverthefuck in the last 30 minutes or not.

Customer, the definition is a person who purchases something! Check it out you slugs that use the services of business people and don't buy.

Same issue with bookstores. People come in and read through books. Some stores provide comfy chairs and offer wine or coffee. There’s an expectation that the vast majority will buy eventually, and the wecoming environment is worth it.

Visited a SB yesterday and was very uncomfortable as some drug addict kept staring at my young son and his tutor as they worked on her computer. New policy had SB manager too scared to call the cops. I expect will be the new reality for SB
