Ever heard of Soft Reboots? That's when they somewhat continue the series but allows newcomers to jump in without needing the knowledge of earlier installments. I think GoW falls into the soft reboot category.

Spoilers, Kratos had already been a father before... and even may have had parental feelings towards Pandora. This isn't a "different" journey, this is a second (or third) chance.

oh and it did so SO very well. we can see Kratos struggling with his Nature as a God of War, and his desire to keep his son safe and happy by keeping his true nature a secret for most of the game. it's actually a really great story.
-
one could also argue that this story is really about Atreus dealing with the death of his mother and learning to live with his father, who spent most of the time before Atreus's mother's death hunting for food. and learning about what he really is.
-
Kratos is more like a Lens for the audience to experience Atreus's story. and (minor spoilers) it is hinted at the end of the game that Kratos will die sometime in the future after the game ends.
-
he doesn't die lol
-
TBH, kratos does die in atleast once in every game in the original trilogy
-
yeah but Kratos during that time was more like a Force of Nature than an singular entity, Driven by rage and a desire for vengeance he clawed his way out of Hades to kill the gods. I feel that if Kratos dies soon he might stay dead by choice.
-
Who knows. Although I do hear that they plan to continue it from Norse mythology to other mythologies
-
well considering we see references to other mythologies half-way through the game that's not too surprising.
