“I am glad they didn’t figure out their mom, a lawyer of all things, was a cheater. What kind of lesson would that be?”https://on.wsj.com/2EYK0qm

A lawyer cheating would be the least surprising thing at all. The worst of them become politicians.

“Fast” is an adjective attempting to modify “lose”, which is a verb. Tsk, tsk... do you have any copy editors left? They used to teach ninth graders not to make that mistake.

        Fast is also an adverb.

You are correct. The OED limits the contexts in which it is an adverb, but “in a short time” is one of them. Next time I will check the OED first.

Your response was rational, polite and gracious. It therefore has no place on Twitter.

No wonder kids resort to their video games if their parents cheat so as not to have to spend extended time with them. What kind of a mother is this?!?

Yes, cheating or lying lawyer...maybe even becoming a politician one day. If such a thing were to ever happen it would be terrible.

That kind of cheating is an act of love, to build confidence in their opponent. Of course -- eventually the child will have the confidence and expertise, where it will no longer be necessary.
