        538 was dead-on within a couple of percent and one of the only places you could get a sense that Clinton might lose the election. Everyone else acted like she had already won.

        Politics is notoriously hard to predict. It's crazy to even try to. You can only do so much with the data given. A lot of people who made a difference in the 2016 election didn't participate in polls or surveys or anything.
