        It’s cute seeing the responses from folks who think that the other 11 would just let us in. That’s not how trade negotiations work. We had a great deal, with labor and environmental standards. We gave it up. Now we’ll have to give more and demand less.

        I don't think they will get them. The TPP nations are all very concerned about China. My guess is they would much prefer the US over China. They will do what they need to do to make that happen.

        United States is equally concerned about China as the other eleven are. My guess is they would consider the compromise to be the original deal.

        Nations predictably act in their own best interests. Historically if you look at how the US has dealt with the world on trade v China, there is no debate. TPP nations know China will dominate them & dictate terms. They want the US engaged and leading.

        Absolutely. But apart from this administration, I think there is a general concern in America as well about the rise of China, as evidenced by its overt advances at India, Vietnam, etc, and of course, the proposal for the TPP itself back in the day.
