So -- about that taxpayer-funded hush fund that's shut up many a congressman's indiscretions.... As a taxpayer I'd like a list of all those who should be charged back. Get on that, WSJ.

Perfect! All we need is a Citizens United-esque SCOTUS ruling to say campaign finance laws are "personal" because the sole beneficiary of a campaign is a person. Or some crap like that

Right, God forbid any future candidate needing to cover up scandal or corruption to win an election be constrained by contribution caps or disclosures. 🙄

Can it be both an illegal contribution and an illegal expenditure, if Mr. Cohen and the campaign both had corrupt motives?

He seems to be a very potent man to spend 130.T for a hooker. But what has it to do with POTUS?

Even if this happened it would be so far from unprecedented it's laughable. For starters think lots of Kennedy's, at least one Clinton, and of course there's always John Edwards. My goodness.

You’re forgetting that Edwards was charged and went to trial for campaign finance violations, I guess. Trump and Coen should both be charged. That’s precedent I can get behind.

Um, it was a hung jury meaning even in his case which was pretty clear it wasn't enough. I don't have a clue what you want to charge Trump or Cohen with but I do understand the search for something continues.

In this instance, it would be with illegal campaign finance violations. Edwards had to be charged, go to trial, and wait for the jury to come back hung. The charges weren’t frivolous. The payment was far removed from the campaign for Edwards, not so for Trump.

How was the payment in the Edwards case far removed from his campaign? He had a secret baby with the campaign staff video girl. Jeez. Trump probably had a one night stand with a porn actress over a decade before he ran for anything.

It’s my understanding that the payments from Edward’s did not take place during the presidential campaign. Trump’s payments did occur during the campaign and were clearly intended to keep information from the voters that might affect the election.
