I’ve often seen people use tables w/o buying anything. It’s annoying as hell when you need a table to eat or enjoy your coffee. But it’s not Police territory.

If a business calls the police, the police have to go. Business wanted them to leave, police put in position to have to enforce that. Not sure why they couldn’t just go ahead and order or wait outside for friend or text friend they were going somewhere else.

Because it's clearly racial profiling, Suzanne.

My point is that the police had to do their job once they were called by the business.

And I counter your point by saying the police are there to do their job which means to UNDERSTAND the situation. They did not have to put those men in handcuffs for sitting there.

I would say it was probably the last thing they wanted to do or thought they would have to do. They probably thought the men would be gone by the time they arrived or would have made a purchase. For some reason this turned into a standoff. I’m sure we will learn more eventually.

Agreed, @2Suzannes . @modupehbella : a private business has the right to remove someone from their establishment. therefore, the police has to enforce that. now, if the employee was racially motivated, starbucks should do something about that person.

No. Let me help you. For not leaving when asked for violating company policy, so police were called who also asked that they leave, which they didn't, so the arrest.

The problem is, you white folks presume and stereotype all blacks especially black men as “thugs”. The only race to ever get arrested for drinking coffee and hanging at a coffee shop. Another problem is how your whiteass doesn’t see the problem. #overyourhead

Their apology stinks. That barista had intention. We call the police with intention. Clearly citizens cannot police their imaginations then think, "sorry" releases them from consequences.

What did the company do wrong? I’m sure they didn’t train their staff to be racists & they can’t monitor every single staff & customer interaction as it happens.

Two days after the fact. They're only sorry it got caught on video. Looks like we're going to have to boycott Starbuck's. Hitting them in the wallet seems to be the only way to get their attention.
