In Silicon Valley, the smart gun was stymied in part by liberal funders reluctant to put money behind any type of firearmhttps://on.wsj.com/2EL4ByD

The smart gun has been stymied by lobby groups like the NRA for more than 100 years. So whether or not an incident took place in Silicon Valley is pretty much a moot point.

Also absolutely no demand for it from gun buyers.

The venture capitalists of Silicon Valley are not “liberal funders”... @WSJ you’re sliding into InfoWars territory

Not cool @WSJ - you KNOW @NRA opposes this technology! Why isn't that in your headline?

Major money and research should be put into this technology. Great advancements could be made, but as is, I would never consider a firearm with the reliability of my smart phone. All of my guns work without batteries.

If you don't want someone else to use your gun just put a trigger lock on it. Problem solved.

I can see this gun malfunctioning and not working in time of need. Not a fan and I’m not even pro gun.

That’s a key part of the opposition to legislation by gun advocates. That said, it’s certainly plausible that this risk would be overcome with sufficient development.

With that said, a gun without this technology can also malfunction in time of need.
