What??? Wouldn’t that be conflict of interest? Would they then filter out the “good deal”, so they could flip them?

Market Views Retweeted The Wall Street Journal

https://twitter.com/WSJ/status/984619722326110208?s=19 … Is #zillow ( $Z ) really trying to speculate on real estate values? Because it is hard to see what else could this be... If they buy a home at true market value in a flat market, the best they can hope for is to capture 5% RE commission (1)

But 5% is too small a return. If they complete the transaction in 4 months (optimistic), it will be barely 15% ROC. Surely a company like #zillow $Z aspires for more. Also any repairs, unanticipated costs, financing cost will eat away even that. (2)

So conclusion - #zillow $Z is speculating on price increase. Feels very bubblicious!

I don't see a problem with this, I believe they are currently not a profitable company, nor are they the leader in providing residential home value analytics anymore. Let them find a model that produces return, and we can all move to Trulia for guessing what are homes are worth.
