@trippmickle @jessiekuronen Correction 1/2 to your otherwise great article: The iPhone does not have a gyroscope. To measure heading, it uses its magnetometer, just like a compass does, or sometimes it computes the heading of subsequent GPS points.
Correction 2/2: The iPhone does not calculate speed with its accelerometer, which measures force in 3 dimensions. Instead, it uses your recent GPS points and their times to calculate speed as distance over time. (These corrections are true of Android phones, too.)
