It costs too much. I love going to see movies, but for the price of the ticket and popcorn I can buy the movie.

Agree. I seldom go to the movies for same reason.

It's not the theater. It's the sexual perverts and pedos in Hollywood.

It might have been the lack of good movie choices last year.

I will agree with you on that one!

Many people are incredibly inconsiderate. They act as if the theater is their den at home. The movies aren't great, and they're expensive, as is the food. Unless the movie demands viewing on a huge screen (Dunkirk), I'd rather wait until it's available through a cable service.

Ripping out seats will not solve the problem. Lower prices at the ticket booth and at the concession stand will. Period.
-
There's a reason those things cost so much. Most of the ticket sales (80%) go to the production companies who own the movies. So the only way they can make money is by selling the concessions at a premium. Been that way since the 20s when movie theaters first came about.
-
Yes, but price is still the problem, and theater owners will have to work that out with production companies if they don't want to go out of business. Why would my spouse & I spend $26 to see a lousy movie at a theater when we can 'Netflix & chill' for a fraction of the cost?
-
If the movie is lousy, then why the hell are you even considering going? Going to the movies is supposed to be a treat. If the movie is lousy, don't see it.
-
Because, like most of us I think, I enjoy the experience of going to the movies, and would go more often, even to the lousy ones, if it weren't so damn expensive. I watch plenty of lousy movies/tv at home because we take turns choosing and we have different tastes.
-
Then sneak in your own snacks or join the theater's member program so you can get freebies and discounts. They have to make money some how.
-
Agreed. But tix usually goes for 9$ makes that 18$ for two, then spend 20$ at the snack bar. For 40$, I can rent a movie at Redbox for 2$, grab some steaks and potatoes, and popcorn and candy all for 40$.. it’s ridiculous what people spend!
-
Going to the movies is supposed to be a treat. Something you splurge for simply for the experience. The major theaters all have reward programs. Arclight here gives you points for every ticket and snack you buy that you can use to get $5 off at concessions for every 50 points.

It's not the theaters. It's the horrible films that cost way too much to see. https://goo.gl/5o4zpS

The change shouldn't be in the theaters - it should be in Hollywood- boycotting films

The mistake is them thinking that putting in the "comfy" seats means the right to charge another $1.00+ on ticket prices, simply because they added the "comfy" seats... Thus, giving theater goers another reason not to go...

I am beyond proud to say I was among the millions who did not go to see a movie in a theatre last year and have zero plans to ever go again.
