Why is this a story? And where does it mention that 80% of the households owns 7% of the wealth in the US? All else belongs to the rest of the rest of the Americans who SHOULD pay the bulk of taxes.

So what. There was no income tax until 1913. And the IRS only collects income tax on behalf of the Federal reserve as interest for all the funny money they lend our government to spend. #endthefed support #hr5404

Progressive taxation is a *good* thing, and federal income tax is pretty progressive. But taxation in the U.S. overall is not, since much of the tax we all pay is regressive: property tax, sales tax, state-level income tax (which is only progressive in some states), and so on.

Misleading to show the rich are overtaxed and the poor don’t pay anything. Factor in payroll + state/local taxes and the system will look far less progressive.

Just to give you an idea of how rich the 1 percent really are. If you inherited one billion dollars and spent 1000 dollars ever day. It would take you more than 2700 years to burn through your inheritance.
