        You know, when I went through the police academy, we were trained to use night sticks, martial arts, etc., with shooting as an absolute last resort...and only when a gun was pointed at you, or someone else. What the hell has happened?

        A metal pipe looks a hell of a lot like a rifle. If there's no video showing that it's obviously a pipe, and one could discern that in under a second, I'd say give them a pass on this one.
