I suggest @realDonaldTrump call Chinese bluff and retaliate double number of goods from China. Who ever blinks first will lose the game. US has more ammunition than China and can easily out run them, if we stick to our game plan.

Us companies were/are sending meat (chicken or pork) to Chinese companies to be sent back to us after processed whatever that means. Is this weird? It is true.

The retaliation makes only a little difference. Pig farming is costly in China, so much so that even with 25% tariffs, American pork retain a price advantage over Chinese pork. American won't be seriously hurt. If anything, the additional cost will be passed on to final consumers

The US can enlist Canada in the pork war, as it did in the steel war. America granted Canada exemptions, and in return, the country announced new measures against transshipment and diversion of steel. There is an alliance against China. A substitute isn't easy to find.

The Chinese have flooded our market for decades with their cheap goods, while simultaneously placing heavy restrictions on ours. How is it people are not upset about such a trade imbalance?

I'm guessing it's because they can buy cheap Chinese goods which saves them money.
