It's FEDERAL land! Not public! PLEASE get the correct terminology. All land was considered "settled" formally under FLPMA. There's no land open for settlement left in the U.S. There are Allotment Owners on federal land whose property is being "taken" without "just compensation."

How can environmentalists be against animals using the land as they would naturally? I don't understand what's going on here. So the government prohibits grazing on public lands because environmentalists feel that it's destroying it? That's absurd.

The animals in question wouldn’t naturally be grazing there. Cows are domesticated and the native antelope and elk have different grazing patterns and needs that aren’t as bad for the natural Nevada landscape in the long term as they occur naturally.

Ah, so it ruins the land for other natural wildlife to use as they would? Okay, I suppose that makes sense.

Yes and sheep are even worse; my family has a ranching history in Nevada and I remember hearing about how my great great grandfather hated sheep because they ruined the grazing for the cattle... which then ruined grazing for the natural wildlife but yah.

Do what the Bundys do. Cheap the taxpayers out of $1 million in grazing rights.

hmmm... maybe its something to do with worsening drought and the environmental destruction your industry wreaks on the land.
