Without including "required fees," those tuition figures are misleadingly low, I think.

I paid about $6,000/year to go to Rutgers between 95-99. I'd be curious to understand the methodology behind the numbers. That didn't include room, board, or fees. Just straight tuition.

Years ago, my wife looked into an MA at U Mass, but the extra fees would have made the total cost so high that she went to Simmons, instead!

Where the devil are you getting your statistics from? That is the cost for one semester – not a four year degree!

And a Used Car/Truck is what, $10,000? $6,572 is a Bargain for the income it will generate later!

It's based on credits. $6,572 doesn't include all of the other fees and expenses (like housing) and is typically for only one semester. A Bachelor's degree in the United States typically costs $50,000 - $100,000 on average.

$10,000 for a used car doesn't include ... tires, gas, oil changes, insurance, etc etc.. either... Many students can live at home and go to Univ.... and/or parents help pay for housing..

that increase - 4784 to 6572 - over 10 years is about 3.2% annually, not excessive

Not realistic either. Tuition has more than doubled in most states since the Great Recession. Their number would cover tuition for one semester at a state university in Arizona.

When looking at inflation, it's always wise to make sure you have the same exact basket of goods, though... It's true. ;)
