China is no longer dealing with an incompetent U.S. administration, they're dealing with @realDonaldTrump who will double down to any action that they may take against us. Trump did not become a billionaire & POTUS by backing down or blinking, he asks for respect & will get it!pic.twitter.com/ozZnklAmjr

Tariffs will force American industries to make their own products. Initially costs of goods will be high, but eventually they will come down because of competition, and supply.

Are you sure, tariff on only Chinese products will force things to go back to US rather than to other countries like Vietnam, Cambodia etc... probably same Chinese investors in Vietnam etc. It’s called critical reasoning to understand how business works... 😀

Yes, I've thought about that. They're just going to have to put up tarrifs for every single country in the world.

US reached to best economy in the world not because of controlled economy but free economy... it is not changing it and I don’t see positive results of it. At the end, US people will end up paying extra. China will find new markets and there are always opportunities around.

America has had tarrifs since the country was born. They just stopped the tarrifs in 1987 with the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, and in 1994 with the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

So really Free Trade has only been around for 14 years, and so far we have gone through a recession for almost 5 years that was almost equivalent to the Great Depression....

Makes sense. @realDonaldTrump’s true goal isn’t to “Make America Great Again”, it’s to break America and then “pack it in”.

on one hand, a trade war will hurt. on the other, i dislike the idea of kowtowing to the economic whims of china - and if left alone that will likely only get worse. should hurt china more than us, but their govt easily quells public discontent while ours is easily swayed by it.

Export nations basing upon exploiting workforces can't win a trade war. China is extremely vulnerarable b/c it's ethnic diversity is suppressed by humanrights violations & based partly on a debt ponzi scheme. China never had a great recession.
