It took many courageous, driven poeple to get America this far. Many gave their lives for today's freedoms, that minorities enjoy. Racism and sexism are still an undercurrent in American society; however, there is constant, steady progress. I thank and support these folks.

Very nostalgic, indeed. However, a more significant story would be covering the iconic racism on display in Austin. The “troubled young man” narrative being foisted is a stark contrast to what we would be hearing, if all else was equal, this was a person of color, or a muslim.
