And now they're moving to other states and voting in the same policies that destroyed their former homeland.

Rent control. It has to be mandatory. People can't be expected to fork over half or more than half of their monthly income just for housing. That's an unsustainable model.

Read up on it a bit. Rent control actually raises prices in the long term by choking off suply. Right move would be less zoning regulation.

Yes, well, you can thank globalization, H1B1 visas and the “google effect” for that. I’ve had to bail out of the Bay Area twice because it’s overrun by techies and the homeless.

It's not just housing costs; it's a liberal hellhole with syringes, garbage, and human feces in on the sidewalks.

They've already chased away all of the people that gave SF life and diversity. Now its either the very rich or the very poor.

I live here, and love it for so many reasons, but it's sad to see so many people have to leave because of the insane housing/living (and otherwise) costs

Its too damn expensive to live there... especially while salaries and comp plans are falling in value. Why live there? Virtual offices are the way to go these days!

Please do... At least until it descends into third world status, which is where it is headed. Look at LA with 58,000 homeless living in the streets, the highest poverty in the nation, etc... It was a beautiful place, once.
