$300 million to preserving the free press in America by the beast that did a lot to destroy it? Mark Zuckerberg personally lost more than 20x that much in the last two days and hasn't broken a sweat.

How did Google do a lot to destroy free press? Genuinely curious

The same way they make it tough for @Wikipedia to raise money. People read the aggregated content on Google and do not go to where the advertisments are that pay for the content that Google serves. Google is supposed to be a gateway TO the content. Not the endpoint.

Again, how is this explicitly google's fault? Seems like the blame there would be on the consumer, for choosing the easier route to information. Google is not obligated to direct anyone anywhere. This is more a problem of the current business model of most press outlets.

"people are such losers these days". If you were civil, you would have just accepted that I wasn't interested in your discussion and left. But glad you allowed yourself to feel superior today. Pat yourself on the back twice, you've earned it.
