These students should be encouraged, not cracked down on. If our kids have to participate in active shooter/lockdown drills, they should be allowed to protest why the drills are necessary in the first place!

Good. Punishment and abuse for peaceful civil disobedience is a patriotic badge of honor. Wear it with pride, kids.

To all the old white dudes in charge out there, the next generation is the ones that will write your history. It won't be flattering.

How many of these kids will vote in 2020? I hope most of them will. Take the ding from the school. In the long game, it's meaningless.

When I went to school you never walked out. If you did it was truancy. A public school is for education not political postering.

There are great learning opportunities here, espevially for teaching conservative values: + Students should not form political opinions or try to make a difference + Children should be seen and not heard + People should not speak truth to power

What exactly is walking out of school for a few minutes supposed to accomplish?

Real talk: Aren't consequences part of civil disobedience? I don't understand the "don't punish them" argument. If authority gives you permission to protest, that kind of defeats the purpose (?)
