For many New Jersey residents, reducing the sales tax to 6.625% from 7% didn't make much difference, but it hurt revenuehttp://on.wsj.com/2Dp2HTp

how did you know it didn't make much of a difference to working families? Did you ask them how they used the money? maybe paying off some of their record high household, credit card and student debt?

The difference is $37.5 per person for every $10k spent. The difference for revenue is $37.5M per 1M people per $10k spent.

Crazy that lowering taxes lowers government revenue... oh wait... that’s literally what taxes are? The main source of government revenue? Oh.... I see. People keeping more of their own money is not a bad thing. Wheel in the spending.

This will only serve to drive more high income residents out of state making matters worse. Not a good situation and one that may not have a solution.

So basically taking back any relief we just received through Trump Tax cuts. Think again - too easy to shop elsewhere to avoid the trap.

NJ middle class resident here - I support going back to 7%. I did not feel the extra 0.75% in my pocket, but I know the state needs it. I would rather see the money invested in schools and infrastructure. @GovMurphy is doing a great job so far.

The Governor signed a bill to expand birth control, including IUDs, to women on medicaid. He wants to invest in infrastructure so that people who work in NYC will want to live in NJ. That is a WISE use of my money. What is UNWISE? Racist Walls and military parades.

In related news, imposing SOME TAXATION on Fortune 500 Companies will "not make much difference to them" but can SUBSIDIZE IMPROVEMENTS our entire school system. Here, DUE PROCESS and EQUAL PROTECTION OF LAW mandate similarly situated taxpayers be treated similarly. Yes or No.
