Throw the tablets & computers in the trash...We are raising illerates. They can't even compose a sentence. Or add a column of numbers.

Next problem. Students complain that teachers don’t understand how hard it is to do math without a calculator.

Sad...but we created them, coddled them, nurtured them. Now we must develop them.

Taught middle school for 9 years. Students hadn't learned cursive - they printed. Elementary teachers tried, but students resisted w/ support of parents who said there was no need. Writing notes helped(helps) me learn, but even w/ different learning style, people need to write!

One day it will be difficult for "humans" to walk on their own if this trend continues ... or to think.

these are students that were barely taught handwriting. after being taught, they did not practice it on a daily basis. i use to teach it. good manuscript and cursive handwriting is a beautiful thing to see.

They stopped teaching cursive in schools here and they stopped giving penmanship tests. Most kids are using tablets and laptops in their high school classes.. Because that's the way of the future.

It's awesome how many older people immediately blame an entire generation for something they enabled their children to do.

Good Lord in heaven! Is this even a handwriting? Horrible will be a gentle word for the standard shown here!

Writing notes helps the note taker to retain the material better. I always found that to be the case. People can use a recording device if the lecturer speaks too quickly. This article is unintentionally amusing.

My daughter’s handwriting (14) is horrible...but I think a lot of it is due to lack of practice and little need. She’s been around computers and typing her whole life (since age 2).

Colleagues at a couple of local Junior colleges also told me that many of their students cannot tell time from a clock with hands on it. Now that is sad.
