I wish more young people went into trades. America needs skilled people desperately. Skilled construction workers can make $85K-$120K annually. Manufacturers need welders who start at $28 an hour with medical benefits during training. Getting a liberal arts degree can't compete.

As an older person who has seen his degree (in business) mean little, go tech, kids. That, or code camps.

Unless you actually have a mind for academics, and I’m talking STEM and/or post-grad, I would seriously tell kids to think hard about its necessity. My generation was sold the “everybody needs to go to college” line, & now I have tons of baristas w/ degrees and $30k debt

If you have the talent and desire to work in a trade go that route.

Is it smarter to spend thousands of dollars and put yourself in debt to end up with a less than desired job, or attend trade school potentially already paid for and learn to do what you love? #mavorg

There's a reason why plumbers and electricians can charge what they do, bc no one else knows how to do it. If I could go back in time I might have chosen a vocational school and then college.

Becoming a skilled tradesperson makes owning a home a lot less daunting + being able to do your own minor repairs (or maybe even major renos?!) is a HUGE ROI, imho. And #BONUS - you’ll always have a built-in #sidehustle ! Just saying...not all jobs require 👔,👠, & a 💼 every day

Nothing say young work experience like retaking prep cal and world history in college. I know when I hire people it's super critical if they held their head low in public speaking and we're taught at nausium about the underground rail road.
