The Italian parliamentary vote and the German coalition deal reflect growing displeasure with mainstream politicianshttp://on.wsj.com/2I5FvNM

In democracy people elect government to serve the people, they dont elect government to tell them what they can say, how they can think, import the third world who are voters sympathetic to authoriterian government that gives them hand outs and spy on them.

I would argue that, in Italy, the centre didn’t hold. The so-called centre-right includes a populist, anti-euro, anti-immigrant, anti-establishment force, the League, which may well find a ought common ground with the five-star movement to form a coalition.

The centre has shifted to the right, the old centre is now the far left.

I think it’s a little more complicated than that. Populist parties cut across the old left/right divide eg Italy’s 5-Star movement combines typical left wing ideas (eg universal basic income) with right-wing ones (general anti-immigration sentiment)

I agree the left deserted their traditional base of the working man and woman, in favour of pandering to a whole lot of minority groups who's principals shift, so they end up disingenuous. The right is now the champion of working people no matter the race as long as theyr legal.
