What about the retaliation by Canada and the EU?

As a Canadian I decided not to wait on my gouvernement and impose my own retaliation by not traveling to usa until they stop imposing tariffs on our lumber, planes, steel and aluminum. Very easy to do...

Good idea. I've generally avoided visiting the US ever since Trump was in office.

But does the WH support Trump telling advisers to sell their stock in companies that imported steel, before announcing huge tariffs on steel? Chew on that for a while... #YUGE

History says these tariffs don't work. Causes unemployment and higher consumer prices. Hoover did it and it caused a World War. Nixon tried it and we had stagflation for many years.

A trade deficit is a sign of the wealth of America not a sign of weakness. I hope the Administration will stop this unsound policy.

US buyer goes to foreign country, finds supplier, negotiates product & prices, arranges shipment, tarriff exempt status, sells, re orders for 20-30 years, ignores labour & environment, comes back & wants to says we must now punish you with high tariffs for agreeing to supply us.

Let's recap: Steel/aluminum build cars, trucks, buildings, cans, poles, construction equipment & ship containers, tools, engines, planes, trains, nails & a plethora of other stuff. Every 1 of those things will cost consumers A LOT more. As supplies dwindle, massive layoffs happen
