The issue with steel and aluminum is partly national security BUT the biggest issue with tariffs is that many countries have tariffs on our exported products while we allow them to export to the USA with $0 tariff. That needs to change!

The result has been a lot of manufacturing has moved overseas taking jobs and financial benefit to other countries. That has devastated towns like this one all over USA. It also hurts the small businesses that support the manufacturer in the towns.

With all due respect, we need leaders who are correct & strategic more than they’re wrong. Saying things with intent only to appeal to certain crowds is plain dangerous.

One, single, lonely little town.

After another & another.

And I look forward to the glowing WSJ exposé of each and every hamlet.

Well, a whopping 2,118 folks live in Braddock PA. Isn't that just swell that such a giant slice of America like Trump's tariffs?
-
Braddock PA: Where the median income is $23K, median value of owner occupied housing is $31,700 and 56% of children under 18 live below Trumps federally defined poverty line, 8% have a college degree and 1% of the folks were foreign born. Why is WSJ there?https://censusreporter.org/profiles/16000US4207992-braddock-pa/ …

@realDonaldTrump Folks don't understand that we are & have been in a#TradeWar for years! We have just not been fighting back until now. Other countries either charge us tariffs or lower the value of their currency to make their products cheaper. Example = ChinaThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Well, sure, until the town starts suffering the unintended consequences. Well, I certainly hope they are unintended...

It’s shocking. The US steel industry has had decades to rebuilt and upgrade. Japan and Korea were flooding the world market with cheap steel in the ‘90’s well before China happened.

This tariff is not a help to US people...Cost is always passed to the "Consumer," who will have to choose between paying higher prices for imported canned goods(food, beers, etc) & items made from imported steel/aluminum or lose the opportunity to purchase them...which means(1/2)
-
...less products & variety, because most consumers don't realize how many of the "wares" they buy are made from imported steel/aluminum...And one thing is certain, companies outside the US won't pay "more" to import US steel/aluminum just to keep prices "less" for US consumers...

Just compare this old rundown steel mill to a modern one in Asia with integrated shipping ports and think for yourself why they are not competitive.
