The smartphone industry has a culprit to blame for slumping sales: Its old devices remain too popularhttp://on.wsj.com/2FDlqgN

Ever since the phone companies stopped giving discounted/ free upgrades and started forcing me to either pay monthly, or pay $600 up front, I stopped giving a crap about having the latest iPhone. My 6s is a little slower, but I’m going to get my money’s worth.

The innovation in smartphones had slowed to a crawl. There’s no real advantage to upgrading for the average user.

I know how my android works. I have what I want on it and know where everything is located. I'm not gonna give it up until it melts.

I'm sure the fact that they are too damn expensive might have something to do with it too...

Now imagine if we were talking about toasters. Every 6 months your toaster mfg came out with a new toaster, then we all lined up to get our 'latest toaster'. Wise the f$*k up sheeple!

Stop making an "annual" device release and focus on more meaningful updates less frequently; features that actually improve utility and user experience.

Why the hell would I spend what it costs to buy a new device every year when I can't notice a difference in performance?

Maybe if a new phone wasn't $1,000 I would buy a new one or if it didn't take 3 years to pay my phone off I would by a new one? Duh. Idiots. Ppl aren't made of money
