Umm. No. Dick’s specializes in selling yoga pants and youth athletic gear and recognizes the marketing value of taking this position.

They don't specialize in anything, and no matter your feeling on it, the move was right

I've expressed my heartfelt thanks to Dick's Sporting Goods on their FB page and via a tweet - this weekend, I'll shop their Pleasant Hill, CA store and put my money where my mouth is. Inaction by politicians does not mean inaction everywhere. #BanAssaultWeapons #BlueWave2018

I applaud Dick's but don't be fooled. Like all corporate decisions, this is revenue driven. Ask them what percent of sales does this cost the company? I would bet this is a revenue neutral decision.

Yes. Help keep weapons of WAR off our streets. We must reward this brave action with our business. Shop at Dick"s Sporting Goods.

This is funny, since @dicks hasn't sold those rifles in over 5 years. Their Field and Stream subsidiary did, and only in certain stores. Much ado about nothing.

@DICKS The timing of this announcement is interesting, especially since you already did this several years ago. If you believe in this issue so strongly, why not ban the sale of guns in your stores altogether?

I probably buy $500/year worth of hunting/fishing/sporting gear per year from Dicks. I’ll find it somewhere else.

They probably don’t want your money anyway. They seem to value what this means more than your fetish for guns.

Very likely the company made this decision after they discovered they would make more money generating good will than they would selling those guns to the public. Are they going to melt down current stock? Nah - just sell them wholesale to another retailer.
