The current presidential planes are over 30 years old. Boeing stopped producing the 747 in 1991. There are no replacement parts available, so parts would have to be specially made. There's loads of wasteful spending in government, but new planes make sense.

I haven't read the article. But how old are the planes? Even with the inspections I would guess these planes get they only have a short lifespan. Wasn't it past time to get new ones? Actually weren't new ones already on order?

Fair question and the article *does* claim a $1.4m cost savings. I should really learn to keep my twitter mouth closed tbh.

No it was a fair complaint. And I swear I thought planes we already on order. And one day I will pay for more than one newsite so I can make it past paywalls at the end of the month

hehe, I hear you. Having just sat through a local discussion involving cost for infrastructure issues where the price tag has gone up exponentially (and will continue to do so!), it's not an easy thing. It's just...sigh.

Really? the why did @realDonaldTrump replace the refrigilators in there? He is replacing the whole jet.. (As stupid as my comment sounds, most justifications/blames from the far right are more idiotic).
