College basketball is broken. Don't blame coaches and players, Jason Gay says. Blame phony amateurismhttp://on.wsj.com/2oBUuFY

The parents, the player, the coach, and the future agent all know it's a violation and still do it. Blame them.

So 3 billion in scholarships to nearly 120,000 students is bad. You want to pay players with 350 D1 schools the way some wish, about 50k scholarship spots in non revenue sports go away.

Everyone can already pick the narrative on this. The corrupt coaches at the elite schools aren’t to blame, it’s the system. If this was a mid major scandal, we would Be crucifying these coaches. The hypocrisy is mind boggling

Not sure what’s the big issue, players are rewarded with free tuition and that In itself should be enough. They don’t need pay.

Outlaw monetized sports in college. It's embarrassing and awkward.

It is broken, but some schools and coaches play by the book. Not everyone cheats to win.

If you’re willing to do revenue sharing among the conferences to even the playing field, then we could pay players as everyone seems to be suggesting. If not, many schools will just drop out of sponsoring teams.

coaches take millions and are part of the corruption and part of the system that keeps players down while they live in mansions, they are a huge part of it, plenty of blame to go around but to point at coaches is clear, they profit from system and stay silent
