        Dictatorship equals power plus raw, unchecked human nature. Democracy is not the natural inclination of men’s minds, tyranny is. Checks and balances, separation of powers, inalienable rights, government of the people — these are all learned behaviors that do not come naturally.

        This is all in human nature. Either a leader must be aware of all these potential dangers in himself or he must be constrained by the rule of law, i.e. a constitution. A leader that does what comes naturally will become a tyrant if left to his own devices.
