How about they just hire the best candidates. Who cares about their color.

You want merit based hiring ? Why would we want the best fire fighters saving our lives when we can check off those pretty diversity boxes instead ? Welcome to DeBlasio’s NY.

Affirmative action requirement is baseless. As a Latino, I find these programs to be degrading. What person with self worth and pride in their character and work ethic accepts a job because they are brown skin. Not me.pic.twitter.com/A0SXW0x2q3

Didn't NYC get into trouble for this in the past? In 2009 the Supreme Court ruled that NYC discriminated against qualified white firefighters because of their quotas. If they can increase diversity without turning away qualified applicants, that is fine.

Shame we can't just let the most qualified people get the job instead of using other criteria. Now you see why they ask all those job application questions like ethnicity, gender, and disability.

Didn’t say they were not. But arbitrarily putting a quota in would seem to go against that. If there’s 100 applicants & only 40 minority’s & 5 women apply are you throwing out the other qualified applicants?
