All those empires mentioned embraced the cultures they conquered, they just didn't let them arrive in droves uninvited to settle in their lands as they wished. Same here, no one is saying we don't want immigrants, they're saying they just need to come here legally on our terms.

I read this. Both at marketing professors not historians or economists. They screwed up the way people became citizens of Roman. Part of Rome's wealth came from the tributed paid by conquered peoples and not from making them citizens.
