Fortunately, God is: - Omnipotent - Omniscient - Omnipresent And, as Jesus stated in Matthew 16:18, "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it." My goodness, Lord, am I happy You said... "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways—oracle of the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, my thoughts higher than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

Catholic Church will outlive Communist China the way it outlived the USSR in spite of KGB attempt to murder Pope John Paul 2.

Pope Francis lectures Trump and then appoints Bishops chosen by a Communist government who has oppressed Christians since they took power

Stay out of China, they are good people with enough superstitious beliefs anyway. They don't need imports. As long as it is safer for the individuals then good.

Francis is providing sedevacantists a good argument.

I don't think there are any such arguments. SV's who insist on such a "high" level of papal authority should admit that events have disproved them, and become Orthodox--or ratchet WAY down their expectations of the papacy.

So maybe my thinking is way off on SVs. I’m reminded of the investiture controversy, but that was a power struggle with Christian royal houses, not atheistic regimes. The pope shouldn’t compromise with atheistic regimes. Thoughts?

This is worse than the investiture disputes. It's more like when a pope sold out to an Arian emperor. But worse than that, too. As a whole, this is the worst pontificate I can think of.

I hate all the compromise one is seeing practically EVERYWHERE. The Church is the Church! God will protect her. God will sustain her. God will make her thrive. Off will bowing to the demands of the world and thinking that evil will overcome us. We will overcome evil with good.

This gives safety to average Catholics in a repressive country. One should think of the people before the ideology.
