Bitcoin. If you have a time machine, go back and buy it at the beginning of 2017 and sell at the end.

It's what's known as a "bubble". Bitcoin sustained itself just fine at the 1k mark. It just can't at 20k, it was caused by a lot of bitcoin hype by a lot of people who never heard about it before, and once the novelty wore off, they sold.

Because this isn’t a new revelation that you’ve just came up with. People have said the same thing about .10, 1, 100, 1000, 10000. Infrastructure might be slow but there’s no reason it can’t handle 100k+.

What about the fact that the bitcoin network uses more power than the entirety of Denmark to processes fewer transactions than a fraction of a percent of the total daily transactions of Denmark. Does that scale?

Denmark, with a population of ~5M, and the 39th consumer in the world of electricity? I’d say it’s scaling pretty well for 2007 tech running infrastructure for the entire world. Electricity is only a problem because the world isn’t using renewable energy.

You misunderstood my point. The total daily transactions processed by the bitcoin network WORLDWIDE is fewer than 200,000. This isn’t even half of the transactions processed just in Denmark by just their MobilePay system alone, yet it uses more power than their entire country.

it depends on what people believe and have faith in. it makes or breaks a currency. human history has seen hundreds if not thousands of currencies.
