Not everyone needs to learn to code - just like everyone doesn’t need to learn to repair cars or be a dentist.

I could see someone being able to say this about literacy way back when. In a world where we assume most people can handle a scripting environment, we'd be able to build products around it -- that could be huge.

Sounds like a lot of unfinished products

I don't know about the consumer space. You might be right there. Its the *business* space that is REALLY exciting, if everyone knew the basics of scripting. I'm NOT saying just release unfinished products to be clear.

That said... did you play the original Dragon Age? I loved the little scripting system they had in there for party behavior. It was cut in subsequent titles. In a world where kids were taught scripting in primary school, they probably would've expanded it.

How about slow the hell down with giving free job training to companies and teach some analytical thinking skills. We literally have 50% of the country believe anything they see online

If everyone can code then coding becomes a commodity and the value of it diminishes. We are seeing this now. Older coders are routinely replaced by younger coders in the valley.

The language requirement in high school should be replaced at this point with 2 year coding.. entice cs graduates to work a few years in public school, with student loan forgiveness .. @BetsyDeVosED #Education

Dad tried to explain COBOL to me when he was partnering with IBM to develop a communication system between PCs for the Palm Beach County Public School system. Ones and zeroes. My eyes glazed over. Now I need help in order to use my iPhone. You got the last laugh, Daddy.
