Some people do need them, some people do not need them. Everyone is different. The fact is, I wish that the people who need these prescriptions can get them without a hassle because others choose to abuse them. This is true of any drug.

Pain is not easy to determine If after surgery you don't get a prescription for something strong Not all doctors have the time schedule to see you asap because you chose not to get any pain meds 24 hours later you regret it. The prescription is there use it if you need it.

Yea this US friend of mine says “too bad you dont live in USA, here, yo go to the Dr. complaining of pain from that tiny kidney stone of yours and instead of a “drink more water” advice, you get a month-supply of high powered opioids”
-
Apparently a different section of the USA. I have never received a months worth of pain pills for a kidney stone and I’ve passed three. I was hospitalized for the first one, and passed the other two at home. I may have received 6 pain pills, at the most, in a prescription.

Unfortunately lost a neighbor this weekend to post-surgery accidental overdose. The US is awash in unnecessary and dangerous opiate supplies.

Interesting read when I am loopy from not being able to sleep because of the pain from a surgery a week ago.
-
I understand the fear with prescribing for chronic pain. Opioids are not a solution in that instance unless patient is terminal.

Diagnosed with a terminal illness that is causing paralysis with many organs & extreme muscle and joint pain 24/7 plus many other ailments I endure. I fully disagree with ANY prescription a person does not need/choose but why do I have to suffer? No one can see my pains either!

As many as they'll give you, because you'll need to sell those to help pay for the Dr bill....

I went to the immediate care facility for an infection in my foot. I was offered pain medication even though I was in no pain.
